Okay... so wonder boy managed to pull the wool over the eyes of a flock of sheeple with that message of Hope and Change. Even some of them are starting to wonder if they did the right thing or not. The very fact that they even have to ask the question indicates how dreadfully stupid they really are.... doesn't it?
We got change alright. We basically did a U-turn back to the time of Woodrow Wilson and FDR. Bigger and bigger government.... more and more controls and regulations.... less and less genuine freedom. Plus we got the return of the "hate the rich" mantra. Please! Can we get the hell off the class warfare theme park ride? Alvin Lee and his band "Ten Years After" had a song titled "I'd love to Change the World" One of the lyric lines went "Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are, rich no more."
That is the essence of the liberal socialist/communist movement and their hatred for the achievers of the world. Tax them out of existence and redistribute their wealth. Okay, fine! Let's say we do just that. Answer this simple question for me..... Now who do you tax once the rich are broke?
It's easy to see why that sort of thing sounds appealing to the youth. As poorly educated as they are by the unionized teaching establishment they are not equipped to think logically and reason things out as we older folks were taught to do.
An interview on TV the other night with a young protester clearly demonstrated his complete lack of understanding of how the real world operates. He wanted to organize and unionize the company where he worked in order to eliminate all the injustice being heaped upon him and is co-workers.
He complained about having to actually show up for work at a specific time! (How draconian!) He bitched about having to prepare the food they served in a very specific way! (Uniform outcome? Why the nerve of that boss!) And he thought it was totally out of bounds and beyond reason that he be expected to meet a specific dress and grooming standard! (My God! How cruel can one boss be anyway?)
Of course this twit had no idea in hell of all the effort it took for his boss (the owner of the company) to round up the money to open the doors and start this venture into capitalism. He was clueless about the number of trials it took to get the the cooking of the product just right either. And obviously he felt that if he decided to come to work looking like a bum from a homeless shelter and smelling like 3 week old gym socks.... then he should be able to do that!
That is the mentality at work in the (so called) minds of these protesters coast to coast and around the world today. However left to their own devices there wouldn't be any protests. Why? These people are NOT leaders.... they are sheeple..... born and educated to blindly follow the orders of anyone who can capture their rather limited attention span. It's like the Wizard of Oz. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
There IS a man behind the curtain too. It's Union bosses and their goons stirring the pot and doing the rabble rousing. It's the liberal left run amuck and totally out of control. They feel they are on the threshold or the socialist/communist utopia they have dreamed for for so long... and so they are going balls to the walls to make that dream a reality.
Well reality check time for the whole damn lot of them. You represent a whopping 12% of the total population. I'm not Einstein but my math tells me that leaves only 88% of the population who just might be opposed to their scheme.
Fear factor time here. Earlier this week one of the Union bosses stated that it might just be time to "get a little bloody" in order to get their way. Oh really? I've seen the courage and bravery of those folks before. They only attack in numbers. They prefer any confrontation to be roughly 10 to 1 in their favor. They generally either all jump one lone figure...... or they hit and run..... or they do their work in the middle of the night like the spineless Jackal they are. (Slashing tires..... painting graffiti on buildings.... vandalizing property and the like) Oh yeah... real upstanding citizens here.
Our wonderful President hasn't been exactly helpful here either. (Come to think of it.... when *has* he been helpful since elected?) After stating that we had to have a return to civility after the shooting in Arizona..... he openly criticizes the Governor of Wisconsin for simply trying to balance the states budget. (Unlike the Federal Government States cannot print money nor can they operate at a deficit.) Earlier in his term he made the statement "if they bring a knife we bring a gun" Yep! Sounds real civil and peaceful to me!
Yet.... watch the evening news and the union protesters are the victims! Poor union people.... they only want what's fair. Give me a king sized break! They already make at least a third MORE than the tax payers who support them. They have far better medical care. They are damn near immune from ever being fired. They barely contribute to their retirement. Even VIAGRA is thought to be a benefit to which they are entitled! God help us! It means they might be capable of reproducing!
And think of this. Exactly whom are they really protesting against? Aren't they called public service workers? Or, phrased differently, workers who serve the public? So are not they actually protesting against the very people they are supposed to be serving? The very people who are already paying for their services. (over paying if you ask me)
Let's simplify this to make it VERY easy to understand. Let's say you hire a kid to take care of your yard. You provide the mower and the gas and whatever other assorted tools he might need to do the job..... plus you pay him say..... $20 to do the job. Seems reasonable.
So one day the kid shows up and he starts complaining that he really doesn't like the mower he has to use..... it's not self propelled so he has to actually push the push mower! Further he is upset that you want him to mow your yard on the weekend. Doing that, he says, cuts into this time to mess around and hang out with his friends. Then there is that $20 for the hour or so it takes him to do the job. Sure it's roughly 3 times the minimum wage... but he should really have more.
Hearing all this you have two choices. #1 is that you go out and spend $400 for a new self-propelled mower (even though your current one is in good working order) and you further rearrange your schedule so as to permit him to mow at a time that suits him better. And finally you pony up $5 or $10 more bucks to shut the little twit up. Or... Option #2 is the terminate your agreement with the kid and hire someone willing to do what you want done when you want it done with the equipment you have available and for a wage agreeable to both parties.
I see nothing at all different with all these union protesters and thugs right now. They were hired to do a specific job and given the tools and resources necessary to do it.... and paid a wage previously agreed upon and stated in a wage scale chart. Other benefits were added in to sweeten the pot. Now they are demanding more and more and more.... while the state is deep in the red and can't pay the bills.
The answer is simple. Fire the whole lot of them! They all have college educations (which is where the problem really started) so it's not like they can't find *real* jobs in the private sector. Granted they will have to take a 33% pay cut.... and loose out on that wonderful retirement plan.... and let's not forget the free Viagra! Let them become the people from whom they are demanding more and more.... and see how they like it.
Unions had their place in history.... and that's exactly where they belong now..... in history... a thing of the past.... a relic of an older time when there was a need for them. Unions put an end to child labor abuses (in America anyway) and to substandard working conditions in some industries such as mining and construction. Today, however, we have SO many rules and regulations controlling every single aspect of everything we do.... that unions serve NO useful purpose whatsoever. Today they simply exist as a money machine for liberal politicians. They want to put an end to America. I say it's past time for America to put and end to them.
